Experience Hawai’i
on a private trip with Hannah Jarrah
Hawai’i Island Experience
Hosted by Hannah Jarrah
May 4-12, 2024: $2,695 USD
In partnership with Hannah Jarrah, creator of Wholesome Han, we invite you to experience the mana (energy) of Hawai’i, and the mana within yourself, as we circumnavigate the Big Island to volunteer with local nonprofits, learn from indigenous leaders, and give back to these sacred lands. Allow your inner-child to play and feel free as you experience the spirit of Aloha and an integrated sense of spirituality through breath work, movement meditation, and other offerings, such as a tea ceremony, sound bath, and new moon circle, co-facilitated by Maia Lisowski, creator of Enlightened Reality, and dear friend of Hannah’s. This place holds an incredibly special place in Hannah’s heart and she wants you to be able to experience it with compassion and empathy for the land and native people. To appreciate the plant, you’ve got to get to know its roots.
This is a safe space for all, which is to be held with the utmost love and respect.

May 4 – May 12, 2024

Day 1
Arrival & Welcome Dinner with Hannah
Your GIVE guides will pick you up from the airport and bring you directly to our accommodations to relax and settle in. That evening we will gather for a welcome dinner with Hannah, Maia and the rest of your fellow travelers!
Day 2
Huli Ka Lima i Lalo, Kalopa Forest & Farm to Table
Get your hands in the soil while volunteering at Hāmākua Harvest, a local nonprofit working to support local farmers, enrich the region’s social fabric, and promote healthy rural lifestyles for the benefit of Hāmākua’s communities, economy, and environment. After volunteering, we’ll hike through the Kalopa Native Forest and learn about the diversity of rare and endangered plants from our Hawaiian guides. Last but not least, we’ll gather organic fruits and vegetables from a local permaculture farm and prepare our own Farm to Table meal!
Day 3
Pohaha I Ka Lani & Historic Honoka'a Town
Visit Waipi’o Valley to take part in volunteer projects and educational programs designed to revitalize and advance indigenous Kanaka Maoli cultural knowledge and land stewardship. As a volunteer, you will learn the historical and cultural significance of this sacred valley, while helping to malama ʻāina (care for the land) by planting indigenous and native plants. After work, we’ll be heading into historic Honoka’a town for a chance to explore and support local businesses.
Day 4
Kohala Lo'i and Snorkeling & Scuba Diving
Volunteer at the Niuliʻi Loʻi, an inspiring place where ancient, terraced farming infrastructure dating back over 800 years will be worked on. Here, you will learn about the traditional styles of farming while helping to perpetuate cultural practices and enhancing access to local food for the community. After finishing up project work, we’ll embark on a private boat charter to learn about Hawaiian marine life while snorkeling (or scuba diving if you’re already certified) off the Kohala coast!
Day 5
Kumuola loko i'a & Wailuku Wahi Pana
We’ll check out of our accommodations in Waipiʻo and drive all the way down the Big Island’s east coast. Along the way, weʻll stop in Hilo to participate in loko iʻa (native fishpond) restoration with the Kumuola Marine Science Center all while learning about fishpond practices found nowhere else on earth. After lunch, we’ll stop at the Hilo Farmer’s Market and then travel up the Wailuku River to learn about culturally significant spots along the river and explore an epic lava tube created from an 1881 lava flow. That evening, we’ll settle into our new accommodations on the SE coast of the Big Island.
Days 6-8
Ka'u Coast Community, Culture & Conservation
On days 6-8, we’ll take part in a variety of locally-led volunteer projects that help to restore native forests, fishponds, coastlines and archeological sites along the Ka’u coast. (Note: your specific project focus will be dependent on scheduling availability with our local volunteer partners)
After project work, we’ll also get to hike through Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, watch the sunset and moon rise from the southernmost point of Hawaiʻi, and enjoy one final night of reflection & celebration while enjoying a traditional imu barbecue!
Day 9
Kona Town & Airport Drop-offs
All good things must come to an end, but these memories and friendships will be with you forever. Soak up your last few hours in Kona Town before heading home or off to your next adventure!
