Explore Southern Thailand
on a private trip with Nicky Dukes
Thailand Marine Conservation
Hosted by Nicky Dukes
April 16-23, 2024: $1,995 USD
In partnership with Nicky Dukes (@escape2thai), we’re excited to invite you on an epic journey to Krabi, Thailand – where the mountains meet the sea. Krabi is Nicky’s favorite place in Thailand – a country she’s explored and called home for the last four years – and she can’t wait to show you its hidden gems. Along the way, you will get to snorkel or scuba dive in the Andaman Sea, volunteer on marine conservation projects, kayak through mangrove forests, rock climb on limestone karsts, and experience the rich culture and cuisine of southern Thailand. Join Nicky on this once in a lifetime adventure and dive deeper into this often visited, but rarely experienced region of the world.
On boat days, you are welcome to snorkel or scuba dive. If scuba diving, you must have at least your Open Water certification.

Trip Itinerary
Trip Length: 8 Days
April 16 – April 23, 2024
We recommend arriving 1-2 days early so you can get over jet lag and hit the ground running on day one. On boat days, you are welcome to snorkel or scuba dive. If scuba diving, you must have at least your Open Water certification.
Day 1
Arrival & Welcome Dinner with Nicky
Your GIVE guides will pick you up from the airport and bring you directly to our hotel to relax and settle in. That evening we will gather for a welcome dinner and drinks with Nicky and the rest of your fellow travelers!
Day 2
Rock Climbing & Permaculture Workshop
After an opening orientation from your guides, we’ll rope up for a Mindful Movement Rock Climbing Course. Whether you’re an absolute beginner or a seasoned climber, we’ve got routes available for all ability-levels. Our bungalows are tucked beneath some of the best limestone climbing walls in the region, so you can keep practicing throughout the trip. In the afternoon, we’ll get our hands dirty volunteering on permaculture, natural building and zero waste projects. That night, we’ll cap off an epic first day with a sunset dinner on the beach and performance from local fire dancers!
Day 3
Coral Conservation & Thai Cooking Class
To start the day, we will learn techniques to identify and fix the most common types of coral damage and how to conduct reef health surveys while diving or snorkeling. From there we’ll go on two dives off the Ao Nang coast to put these skills into practice! All data collected will be sent to our partners to support scientific research. That night we’ll learn to cook like a local, from a local, during a Thai cooking class!
Day 4
Shark Conservation & Phi Phi Island Hopping
After learning about shark evolution, biology and conservation initiatives from shark researchers, we’ll dive and snorkel with sharks in their natural habitat and record our observations in a global database that supports shark research and conservation around the world. On the way home, we’ll explore the emerald lagoons, vibrant reefs, and secluded beaches of the Phi Phi Islands!
Day 5
Koh Klang Ecotourism & Krabi Town Night Market
Hop in a longtail boat and travel back in time to the quiet fishing villages of Koh Klang island. Here we’ll immerse ourselves in traditional southern Thai culture and support local families and businesses practicing community-based ecotourism. We’ll make our way around the island in rickshaw taxis to try our luck at fishing, bee-keeping, clam-digging, batik painting, and other traditional practices that help to preserve this unique way of life. That night we’ll head to the Krabi Town Night Market to try some delicious local street food and shop for clothes, jewelry, handicrafts, and other souvenirs from local vendors.
Day 6
Mangrove Kayaking & Conservation Project
Start the day kayaking through mangrove forests and learning about how critical these ecosystems are to coastal communities and marine life. Along the way, we will collect mangrove seeds and seedlings to transplant at a local mangrove nursery and restoration project that afternoon!
Day 7
Ocean Ambassadors & Final Night Celebration
After an epic week gaining knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience in marine conservation, it’s time to spread that wisdom and opportunity to local students! We’ll bring local school groups out of the classroom and into the great outdoors to work hard, play hard, and get inspired to protect this beautiful place they call home. That night, we’ll gather for one final night of reflection and celebration with your new GIVE family!
Day 8
Check-out & Airport Drop-offs
All good things must come to an end, but these memories and friendships will be with you forever. Soak up your last few hours in Krabi before heading home or off to your next adventure!
